Many beneficiaries of the uninsured elderly benefit are at risk of losing it not due to changes in the criteria, but because they do not comply with basic obligations that apply every year.
For 2026, there are specific actions that must be taken in a timely manner, otherwise the payment of the benefit will be interrupted – even retroactively.
Mandatory tax return submission by July 15, 2026
All beneficiaries, as well as their spouse or the other party to a civil partnership agreement, must submit a tax return (TR) for the year 2026 (income 2025).
Submission must be made immediately after the platform opens and no later than July 15, 2026.
Important: the declaration must include: all income, including pensions from Albania.
What happens if a declaration is not submitted?
Failure to file a tax return has immediate consequences:
- The benefit is discontinued retroactively from 1/1/2026
- The payment is lost until the necessary actions are taken.
- A new application is required for re-grant.
Renewal of pension certificate from Albania
Particular attention is also needed for the pension certificate from Albania, for those of age 67 to 72 years old.
The certificate must be:
- Issued within the last six months
- Validated with apostille Stamp
- To report the last adjustment of the pension amount
If not presented, the payment of the allowance suspended.
