Students of the EPAL of Kato Achaia visited the schools of Himara, Dropoli and Finiki

From March 23 to 25, 42 students from the EPAL of Kato Achaia, accompanied by four teachers, went on an educational trip to areas where the Greek element is kept alive, such as Vouliarates, Georgoutsates, Argirokastro, Aghii Saranda, Dropoli, Himara, Mesopotamos and Livadia.

This activity was not limited to a simple movement, but had a strong pedagogical and social character. The students dealt with the Greek-speaking local dialects and examined their importance for the preservation of the identity and mental resilience of young people. At the same time, they participated in initiatives related to the restoration of the forests affected by the fires of the previous summer, within the framework of a relevant environmental program.

A special moment was the celebration of March 25. While some of the students paraded in Kato Achaia, another group was in Livadia, in the Municipality of Finiki, representing the school and creating a special symbolism of unity and connection.

During the visit, the students were warmly welcomed by the local community of the municipalities of Dropoli, Finiki and Himara, who recognized the importance of the initiative. At the same time, they came into contact with students from the Greek 9-year school “Omiros” of Himara and the College “Pnoi Agapis” in Gjirokastër, with whom they shared common experiences and participated together in the anniversary events.

This experience left a significant mark on the participants, as it was not a typical school trip, but an experiential process that enhanced knowledge, awareness and connection with cultural heritage. The students returned with new performances and the feeling that Greek identity remains strong wherever it is expressed.
