In Korçë, police authorities cracked a smuggling case, arresting a 53-year-old man, while a customs officer is being prosecuted for "breach of duty."
The operation took place on the "Kapshticë-Bilisht" road, where the police stopped the vehicle driven by a 53-year-old, permanent resident of Greece. During the inspection, various types of hydraulic and electrical equipment, worth approximately 2,000 euros, were found, which were allegedly imported into the country without having undergone the necessary customs procedures.
The driver was arrested in the act on the charge of "smuggling other goods", while the confiscated products and the vehicle were handed over to the competent authorities.
At the same time, a case was filed against the Albanian customs officer at the Kristallopigi border crossing point, who is accused of failing to proceed with the required customs clearance actions.
The case was forwarded to the Korçë District Court Prosecutor's Office for further investigation.
