At the official announcement of the opening of the 2nd International Scientific Conference of the Journal "THEOLOGY" in Thessaloniki, Archbishop Ioannis of Albania was present, among other primates of the Orthodox Churches.
At the Customs House of Kristallopigi, Kastoria, Mr. Ioannis, accompanied by the new Metropolitan of Korytsa Anastasios, was welcomed by Metropolitan of Kastoria Kallinikos, Metropolitan of Grevena David, as a member of the Organizing Committee of the 2nd International Scientific Conference of the journal Theology, as well as His Eminence Metropolitan of Sisani and Siatistis Athanasios.
The central theme of the Conference is "Orthodox Theology and the "Ontology" of Technology: Anthropological, Political, Economic, Social and Cultural Consequences".
According to the Church of Albania and Archbishop John, the international dialogue on the relationship between Orthodox faith and technology is of great importance in our days.
Let us note that although technology in matters of faith cannot provide complete explanations, Orthodoxy does not deny it entirely; on the contrary, it wants it to be present.
And it does not prevent humans from studying, searching, and reflecting through technology.
It does not set, that is, prohibitive limits, to what the human mind and human knowledge can reach. On the contrary, it encourages critical evaluation.
This is a reality, different from the demand and claim to believe only what we see or hear or understand.
It should not escape anyone that above all, faith is a conquest of the heart and not the mind, which is why it begins precisely where knowledge and technology end.
Technology cannot, by its very nature, approach the truths of the transcendent and superlative world, while the soul responds to the longing for "knowing".
