Himara as the capital of Epirus in 1700

In the abundance of historical archives that we encounter about Epirus – as an integral part of Hellenism – we are not content with just Greek bibliography. There are many works by non-Greek historians and geographers that refer in detail to our region.

In this case, we present to you an old geography book by the French philosopher, historian and teacher, Claude Buffier (1661 – 1737). Buffier studied at the Jesuit college, where he was accepted into their Order at the age of nineteen. He lived for a period of his life in Rome, where he also wrote the book that is his reference to Epirus. He was also distinguished for his clarity.
