Large areas of Albania are under prolonged stress, as continuous and intense rainfall has once again exposed the fragile balance between natural phenomena, infrastructure and state preparedness. From north to south, local authorities are simultaneously managing floods, landslides, disruptions to essential networks and social consequences.
The situation is particularly difficult in the Leza and Shkodra areas, where large areas of arable land remain under water, dozens of homes have been cut off and families have had to be evacuated as a precaution. Although the water level in some urban centers is receding, the rivers are still moving at high levels, keeping the risk active.
In the south, Gjirokastër is facing a different type of problem, with landslides and debris blocking major roads and burdening the urban fabric. The area's connection to Kakavia has been severely affected, while secondary roads remain out of service. At the same time, flooded facilities have led to power outages, which according to the authorities, will be gradually restored after the waters drain.
Similar phenomena are also being recorded in the Vlora region, where landslides cut off access between villages and caused damage to homes. The overflow of the Viosa River, with the level reaching critical levels, led to preventive evacuations, while local services remain on constant alert.

At the same time, the political side of the case is developing into a parallel front of confrontation. The opposition attributes the extensive damage to a lack of prevention, mismanagement and chronic problems in flood planning, accusing the government of reacting after the fact.
Ο πρωθυπουργός Έντι Ράμα απάντησε στις επικρίσεις με σαφώς ειρωνικό τόνο, απορρίπτοντας την απόδοση πολιτικών ευθυνών για φυσικά φαινόμενα. Σε δημόσια τοποθέτησή του, υποστήριξε ότι αντίστοιχες πλημμύρες πλήττουν ταυτόχρονα πολλές ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, σημειώνοντας πως σε αυτές τις περιπτώσεις οι κυβερνήσεις δεν βρίσκονται στο στόχαστρο της αντιπολίτευσης. Η παρέμβασή του ερμηνεύεται ως προσπάθεια μετατόπισης της συζήτησης από τη διαχείριση στο αναπόφευκτο των καιρικών συνθηκών.
With the phenomena continuing and the forecasts remaining uncertain, the next few days are considered critical both for the development of the situation on the ground and for the political confrontation that accompanies every major episode of bad weather in the country.
