THE Aurel Zarka, until recently head of the Vlora Prosecutor's Office, was arrested due to his involvement in the "Toyota Yaris" case, where 3.4 million euros were seized at the port of Durres in 2018. Zarka is considered a close associate of Edi Rama and is accused of fabricated criminal cases, illegal surveillance and corruption. He is responsible for the Fredis Beleris file and the surveillance of citizens.
New evidence from Belgian authorities reveals the involvement of Zarka and other individuals in property disposal cases in Himara and Drymades, through conversations on the “Sky” application. The “Toyota Yaris” case has been transferred to the Serious Crimes Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation, focusing on money laundering crimes through a structured criminal group. Belgian prosecutor Julien Moinil is investigating the transfer of money from Belgium to Albania, identifying 14 individuals involved in the case so far.
Recently, Zarka and investigator Eriona Dautaj, as well as lawyer Radovan Cela and businessman Astrit Vladi, were arrested in Vlora. Belgian authorities have asked SPAK to take action to arrest those involved.
