Guilfoyle's presence in Tirana also attracted particular interest due to her political background in the United States. Albanian media characterize her as a person with close ties to US President Donald Trump's circle, as she had a long-standing relationship with his son, Donald Trump Jr.
Another element that fueled the discussion surrounding the meeting was that, according to information from Tirana, the American ambassador was not accompanied by officials from the US embassy in the Albanian capital. This detail reinforced questions about the unofficial nature of the visit.
Despite initial doubts, the Albanian government presents the contact as part of broader diplomatic communication developing around energy projects and geopolitical cooperation in the Balkans.
