April 1st, 65 years ago, Cyprus awakens to the voice of Georgios Grivas Digenis calling her. Calling her to the Struggle to throw off the English yoke and for the Union with Mother Greece.
In this Struggle, the Cypriot flower, gave its presence. And watered the Holy soil of our Cyprus with its blood. With Digenis at the forefront and with trumpeters of Victory young children, students, teenagers and spirited men, the English empire was humiliated. Noble figures passed into the pantheon of the Heroes of Hellenism.
Afxentiou, Matsis, Karaolis, Dimitriou, Pallikaridis, Drakos, Dimitriou, Georgallas and dozens of other young Greeks of Cyprus, shocked Hellenism and made it cry with sadness but also pride. English terrorism, hangings and torture could not break the desire for Freedom!
