Following SPAK's decision to redact his passport and monitor former Albanian Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj, the latter resigned from his position as head of the Strategic Program and Aid Coordination Service, a position he had held since 2021, and withdrew from the negotiating team for Albania's EU accession. Previously, Beqaj had not accepted to take on the mandate of the MP in the Shkodra region.
THE businessman Ilir Rrapaj and former deputy minister of Health Klodjan Rjepaj have been imprisoned for granting a license to sterilize medical equipment. Saimir Kadiu, financial director at the Ministry of Health, and Marsela Serjanaj, legal director at this institution, were placed under house arrest.
In addition, surgeon Arben Gjata, a surgeon and rector of the University of Medicine, is requested to appear. The same measure has been decided for Naile Ajazi, Genc Byrazer and Petro Mersini, former General Director of the Hospital Service at the Ministry of Health. The charges against them are forgery and abuse of power.
