With a four-hour warning stoppage, from 07:00 to 11:00 on Monday morning, October 27, the operation of all customs offices in epirus Will be suspended, including the Kakavias and his Mavromatiou.

As announced by president of the Customs Officers' Union of Epirus, Petros Lykidis, this mobilization comes as a reaction to the prolonged understaffing and the problems that plague the Mavromati Customs Office after the arrests and detentions of his employees.

According to Mr. Lykidis, despite the commitments made to strengthen the staff, the situation remains difficult, as the operation of the customs office relies exclusively on the secondment of employees from other services. This practice, as he points out, has caused new dysfunctions and further burdens the already understaffed customs offices of the Region.

Employees who travel, he said, are required to travel long distances daily at their own expense, without receiving any compensation, while the announcements of a border allowance remain unfulfilled. At the same time, the president of the Union also criticized the maintenance of the extended summer operating hours at customs, which, he said, serves political expediency more than operational needs.

The Union requests the autonomous operation of the Mavromatio Customs House, the staff reinforcement at all customs offices in Epirus, the return of the Kakavia and Mavromati timetable to 08:00–22:00 and the lifting restrictions on postings for employees serving in remote areas.

As Mr. Lykidis emphasized, Monday's mobilization has warning character, however, if there is no response from the Ministry of Economy and the AADE, the customs officers are determined to proceed with more dynamic forms of protest.
