An entire operation to smuggle Albanian immigrants, not by boat, but in trucks and with TikTok ads, has been set up in Britain.
The ringleaders use social media to advertise ways for immigrants to enter the country, such as as passengers on trucks carrying Christmas gifts. With no compensation, of course, because the cost of a "package" reaches 18,000 pounds (about 20,500 euros).
The ads, the Daily Mail reports, feature classic British landmarks, from London Bridge to the double-decker bus.
“Every day we offer a trip as a second driver,” they say, urging those living in France and Belgium to get in touch with the network. Another ad speaks directly to prospective immigrants, reminding them that the price is 18,000 pounds, but the passage is safe.
It is a better - and above all safer - way than the "classic" movement by boat or by being transported in special spaces in vehicles. However, it does not replace the sea journey for migrants to cross the English Channel.
The smuggling of drugs through hidden lorries was one of the favorite methods of smugglers until at least the implementation of stricter controls in Britain (now outside the EU) and in France. This turned the gangs to the solution of sea travel – but of course this is also dangerous or depends on weather conditions. The cost, as the advertisements show, reaches 3,000 pounds for a trip that is also advertised as safe.
The "second driver" tactic, writes the Daily Mail, is implemented to avoid arousing the suspicions of border and customs officials.
The sharp increase in the numbers of migrants crossing the English Channel has alarmed Rishi Sunak's government.
The prime minister and home Secretary Suela Braverman are Working “day and night to end the unacceptable increase in the Channel crossing, but the numbers show otherwise.
This year alone, 40,000 people have passed through France, 12,000 of them from Albania. A similarly large number of Albanians have been deported from Britain: 100 out of the 350 foreigners Britain deported in October, including a criminal sentenced to nine years in prison.
