The National Veterinary and Plant Protection Service of Albania announced that so far seven positive farms have been officially identified in five outbreaks of infection with sheep and goat plague.

A total of 882 animals have been infected and are being killed according to the prescribed protocols, with the aim of limiting the spread of the disease.

The Service calls on livestock farmers to cooperate, asking them to avoid moving animals, not to engage in sales with other farms and to strictly adhere to biosecurity measures on their farms.

It is also emphasized that these measures are crucial to prevent the further spread of plague, a contagious and devastating disease for the livestock sector.
