The OVL-UÇK Veterans organization Sent a letter to Richard Grenell, former special envoy of US President Donald Trump, expressing its strong concern about the operation of the Special Court for kosovo In the Hague.
The veterans stated that this court had deviated from its original purpose and had become a political tool, arguing that it no longer dispensed justice but was used for political repression. They emphasized that, in their view, this was a form of modern oppression, “wrapped in the cloak of justice.”
The organization emphasized that it had addressed Grenell not as politicians, but as veterans to another veteran, in the capacity of “brothers in arms” and “defenders of freedom.” They asked him to raise the issue with the American administration, arguing that American taxpayers had not sent their money to Europe to fund a court that – as they claimed – violated the values on which America was built.
They argued that former President Trump was revising outdated rules of political control over the independent judiciary and that, based on this new vision, the court in question should be closed. They called it “a disgrace to American justice and American values.”
They also referred to their own history, noting that they had fought against one of the most brutal Regimes in europe, that they had sacrificed families, homes, and physical integrity, but had never lost their faith in democracy, freedom, and the principles of american justice.
They emphasized that they had previously appeared before the Court of Justice, at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and that their leaders had voluntarily resigned to prove the purity of their struggle. In their view, that was true justice, while they described the current Special Court as a “witch hunt.”
They accused the court of having become a tool to silence the people who brought peace and stopped the Genocide. they pointed to the resignations of several prosecutors, judges and legal advisors, which they attributed to the realization that the court had Become a machine for Political persecution. they spoke Of a “corrupt prosecutor” who came “with a dark Past” to draw up indictments, Which – in their view – were aimed at Sabotaging trump’s peace initiative during his first term.
They stressed that America had stood by them at their most critical moment and that they were now asking for help again so that this court would not be allowed to rewrite – as they put it – a false history. They appealed that the “corrupt elites” should not be allowed to turn veterans into criminals.
Finally, they called for a complete review of the court's operating procedures, a financial audit, and an independent investigation into the working and living conditions of its officials, in contrast to the detention conditions of former fighters, who – as they claimed – are being held because they defended freedom.
They concluded by saying that what they were asking for was not just help, but a new battle for the defense of freedom.
