Panic has been caused in Turkey over the presence of Greek commandos in border Thrace.

As reported by Turkish publications, this specific move by Greece constitutes a "provocation" to the villages in the region.

They also note that Greece has deployed Commando Units in Ormenio and Soufli and even conducted an exercise with heavy weapons in the middle of a village in the municipality of Myki.

They also add that "Greece has escalated tensions in the Aegean and the Mediterranean, while at the same time continuing to gather soldiers in villages in Western Thrace."

Continuing the delirium, the Turkish newspaper Yeni Şafak reports that the commandos came to the village on the orders of the Chief of General Staff of the National Defense Forces Konstantinos Floros and that the soldiers would be stationed in the former Paraskevoudis barracks. In addition, 4 military helicopters were sent to the barracks to serve in the area.

However, the truth is that the Greek authorities sent this particular Unit to the Bulgarian-Greek border to prevent the crossing of illegal immigrants as well as human trafficking.

Finally, it is reported that the commandos would patrol the area 24 hours a day and the Greek Army with the EU Border Protection Units (Frontex) have already been deployed to the area.
