A temporarily Detained american citizen ended his life by hanging himself inside the premises of the Shkodra Detention Center.

THE Ronald Saporitowas accused of murder, as in May of this year he had killed his wife in the apartment they had rented in Shkodra.

According to the announcement, mrSaporitohe was initially found alive by the institution's employees, however he succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

"At the Shkodra detention center, on October 28, 2025, the temporary prisonerBrendon Ronald Saporito was found hanged in his cell by fellow inmates. The institution's employees pulled him out, still with a pulse and signs of life, and urgently transported him to the emergency department, where he was provided with medical care. Despite the immediate intervention of the nursing staff and the efforts of the doctors, the prisoner did not survive.

THE Brendon Ronald Saporito, born on 22.04.1968, was in the Shkodra Detention Center based on a decision of the Shkodra Court of First Instance, which had imposed the security measure of pre-trial detention on him, as a suspect for the crime of homicide. He was arrested on 02.05.2025 and transferred to the institution on 04.05.2025.

The incident was immediately reported to the competent authorities, while all investigative actions are underway to clarify the circumstances of the death. The Directorate of the detention facility is cooperating closely with the Prosecutor's Office and the Internal Audit Service of Prisons for the full clarification of the case," the authorities' statement states.
