The US ambassador to Albania once again sent a clear message to the Democrats of Albania, and specifically to the supporters of Sali Berisha.
Ambassador Yuri Kim, in an interview with an Albanian show, referred to both the turning point Albania is at and what it will cost if they elect Berisha, president of their party.
Kim said that her assistance to the country is valuable and that electing Berisha would cost good relations with the US.
"What will happen if the members of the Democratic Party choose Berisha as their leader? Let them think carefully! Let them think carefully about who they are and the role they want to play in Albanian politics and what they need to do to win the elections. And about the role they need to have with the US," the american Ambassador said.
Additionally, in a post on Twitter yesterday, Kim stated that she is optimistic about Albania's future alongside the US.
“We are at an important moment in the fight against corruption and ending impunity – strengthening democracy and implementing justice reform – promoting "US-Albania defense ties to new highs - increasing trade and investment. That's why I'm optimistic about our future together."
