Police officers from the Narcotics Department of the Ioannina Crime Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate, in collaboration with the Konitsa Police Department, seized a large quantity of drugs the day before yesterday (25-10-2025) late at night in an area of Konitsa, Ioannina.

In particular, in the context of ongoing police checks, a private car driver, realizing the police presence and in order to avoid the impending check, made a U-turn on the spot, subsequently accelerating.

During his escape attempt, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve and come to a stop, while the driver then fled on foot, taking advantage of the darkness, as well as the wooded and difficult terrain of the area.

During the inspection of the abandoned car, which bore Albanian license plates, 125 packages of raw cannabis were found and seized, weighing a total of 193 kilograms and 212 grams.

The vehicle was seized, while investigations by the Narcotics Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department of the General Regional Police Directorate of Epirus, to discover the identity of the driver, are ongoing.
