The albanian government is in contact with the companyEtharabased in the United Arab Emirates, known for its track managementYas Marinain Abu Dhabi, aiming atechnical cooperationfor the operation of the track under designof Formula 1 specifications in Elbasan, as announced on Tuesday by the Minister of Sports of the country, Blendi Gonxhja.
He underlined that this cooperation is "an important step towards the creation of a modern platform that will strengthen innovation, upgrade sports in the country and place Albania on a new trajectory of sports and economic development".
Albania had already expressed its interest, fromAugust 2023, to accommodateformula 1 raceon the track of Elbasan.
HimMarch, the government presented its plans4.4 km track, which will be part of onewider automotive complexwith a classic vehicle museum, a dragster and go-kart track. The prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has set asaiming to hold a Formula 1 race in his country by 2030.
