In the court proceedings being held at the GJKKO Court of Appeal (Special Court Against Corruption), the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Velay, requested his release from prison and expressed his wish for the session to be held with open doors.

During his statement before judges and prosecutors Ols Dado and Altin Dumani (the prosecutor for special anti-crime action), Veliyai stressed that he stands by every post he has made on social media, noting that he remains a mayor, elected by 250,000 people.

He opposed the SPAK (Council for Criminal Assessment and Social Research) case, characterizing the new evidence as irrelevant, while calling his conversations with his son and other family members conversations for media interviews.

Veliai claimed that SPAK had been monitoring his family conversations for a month, considering them unreliable evidence.
