The Modern Greek Studies Program of Macquarie University, in collaboration with the Sydney Institute for Community Languages Education (SICLE) of the University of Sydney, is organizing a free webinar entitled:
"Strategies for understanding and producing spoken language in the teaching of Greek as a cultural heritage language and/or as a foreign language: Development and teaching practices".
The seminar is primarily aimed at teachers of Greek as a second/foreign language. Its aim is to present teaching suggestions for the optimal preparation of students for the Greek proficiency certification exams.
Oral communication, both at the level of comprehension and production, is a basic skill and a fundamental goal at least at the first levels of Greek learning.
However, teaching it in a foreign language environment brings additional difficulties, as it is less mediated and therefore more directly connected to the demands of everyday communication and the circumstances of the environment.
In this context, the seminar aims to highlight good practices and teaching suggestions for the teaching of oral speech, forming a brief theoretical framework. The seminar will present the Dr. Konstantina Iliopoulou.
The seminar will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
