The Albanian Council of Ministers approved the joint agreement with Britain for Albanian prisoners in England, who will be transferred to serve their sentences in their homeland.

This agreement is expected to be signed by both parties in September, either by Prime Ministers Edi Rama and Rishi Sunak or by the British Justice Minister with his Albanian counterpart Ulsi Manja.

Thus, 200 Albanian prisoners in prisons in England and Wales serving sentences of four years or more will return in the next two years to serve the remainder of their sentences in Albanian prisons.

The British side will pay the prisoners' housing costs for the entire duration of their sentence in Albania.
