The government, through Minister Byron Karapanagiotis, sent telegraphic instructions to the Greek ambassador in Tirana and took a similar step to the Albanian chargé d'affaires in Athens, in order to fulfill the last wish of the deceased. In the will that Spyromilios left to his relatives, he had requested to be buried in Himara. His body was to be transported by a Navy ship, but the Albanians, fearing that the heroic leader was dead, refused to bury him in his hometown.

Today, more than 80 years later, it is the duty of all of us, and especially of the Greek state, to fulfill this wish as a minimal sign of gratitude for his national struggles. The bones of its Leader should no longer remain far from the soil of Himara.
