Στην κορυφή των ξένων επενδυτών στην Αλβανία για το δεύτερο εξάμηνο του 2025 βρίσκεται η Ολλανδία, με συνολικό επενδυτικό απόθεμα που φτάνει τα 2,6 δισ. ευρώ, σημειώνοντας αύξηση 96% σε σχέση με το 2020.
Although the numbers show significant growth, the number of truly Dutch companies operating in the country is limited. Among them was Shell, which had been drilling near Berat before suspending operations last year. Many other companies, such as Devoll Hydropower, Vodafone Albania, American Hospital and Karavasta Solar, are owned by shareholders from various countries but are registered in the Netherlands.
The importance of Dutch investments for the Albanian economy is mainly based on the preference of many companies to register offshore in the Netherlands, due to legislation ensuring a high level of confidentiality regarding share ownership and the extensive network of international agreements to avoid double taxation.
In second place is Switzerland, with an investment stock of 2.29 billion euros, up 45% over the past five years. This country, like the Netherlands, is a frequent destination for registering offshore companies. An example is Anika Enterprise, the main shareholder of the consortium that privatized the ARMO refinery 16 years ago and which is registered in Switzerland by Albanian shareholders.
Στην τρίτη θέση βρίσκεται ο Καναδάς, με συνολικό επενδυτικό απόθεμα 1,98 δισ. ευρώ, καταγράφοντας αύξηση 79% σε σχέση με πέντε χρόνια πριν. Στα εμπορικά μητρώα του Καναδά είναι καταγεγραμμένη η εταιρεία που ελέγχει την Bankers Petroleum Albania, έναν από τους μεγαλύτερους ξένους επενδυτές στον τομέα εξόρυξης αργού πετρελαίου στην Αλβανία τις τελευταίες δύο δεκαετίες. Αν και η Bankers Petroleum έχει εξαγοραστεί από κινεζική εταιρεία, η διαδικασία έγινε μέσω της μητρικής εταιρείας στον Καναδά, με αποτέλεσμα η εταιρεία να συνεχίζει να θεωρείται καναδική.
