During the second day of her official presence in Athens, the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Elisa Spiropali, met early today with the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias.
The talks focused on the strategic cooperation between Greece and Albania within the framework of NATO, with emphasis on the role that the two countries play in ensuring stability and security in Southeastern Europe and beyond. In this context, reference was also made to Albania's hosting of the NATO Summit in 2027.
Ms. Spiropali underlined that bilateral relations are moving on a steady path of development, based on shared strategic objectives and a set of initiatives geared towards the citizens of both countries. As she stated, the common denominator remains the European perspective shared by Athens and Tirana.
On the Greek side, Nikos Dendias described Albania as a stable ally and reliable partner in the field of democracy, security and European defense.
At the same time, he highlighted the high level of coordination and cooperation between the defense and security mechanisms of the two countries, both under the auspices of NATO and within the framework of regional defense formations, where, as he noted, Albania plays an active and substantial role.
