The Holy Synod decided to proceed with the prescribed procedures
The health condition of Metropolitan Konitsis Andreou is serious, and since December 24, 2024 he has been hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the “Hatzikostas” Hospital in Ioannina.
As is known, he suffered a severe stroke and the doctors made and are making every effort to do the best they can with surgeries and medication.
Taking into account his state of health, following information from doctors, the Permanent Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, at its meeting on February 4, 2025, decided to proceed with the procedures provided for by the Statute of the Church of Greece.
Metropolitan Konitsa is very beloved by his flock, because he has been walking for 30 years as Metropolitan and successor of the unforgettable Metropolitan Sebastianos with much love.
His attitude towards life gives him the breadth and depth of his love, which he considers a bridge that brings us closer to God. He never leaves love on the sidelines of his visions and his labors.
Following the line of the blessed Sebastian, he takes clear positions on national, ecclesiastical and social issues.
