As our region occupies the news, a less important issue arises that we will deal with in the following text: the correct spelling of the word “Chimara” or “Himarra”. Apart from the two equally acceptable spellings, of course, we often encounter in texts the spelling “Chimara” or even worse “Himarra”. We will not deal with the latter two since they constitute the definition of a spelling error.
The etymology of the word "Chimara" is what determines, in a sense, its correct spelling.
The first mention of Himara is made by the Syracusan poet Theodorides, in the third century BC:
he brings courage and vision to the underworld and to heaven,
which Sosander's children he also set on fire,
For Dorotheus Phthias, free from others, has been my
he was born in the middle of Sikon and Chimera.
Pliny the Elder in the 4th Book of Natural History (77 AD) in the 1st chapter writes:
The third great gulf of Europe begins in the Acrokeraunian mountains, and ends in the Hellespont, embracing an area of 2500 miles[..]Epirus as it is generally called, begins in the Acrokeraunian mountains. The first people I meet are the Chaonians from whom Chaonia takes its name[..]. On the coast of Epirus is the fortress of Chimera (Chimæra), located at the end of Akrokeraunia.

While in Procopius' On buildings (560 AD), i again encounter the writing "Chimera” (see image) in Greek, while in Latin the writing of the 1st century AD is preserved (Chimera).
The writing “Chimarra” is later than 560 AD. Regardless of the etymology, therefore, by using the version with “ei” and two “r”, we cut a thread from the long history of the place and in a way we conceal the constant presence of Hellenism since ancient times.

Αχ πάλι τα ίδια; Σοβαρά τώρα, με τόσα που γίνονται, εσείς κολλάτε σε ορθογραφικά; Δεν έχουμε πιο σημαντικά; Αφήστε τα γράμματα.
Ααα, ok. Τώρα θυμηθήκαμε και την ορθογραφία. Άλλα προβλήματα δεν υπάρχουν στον κόσμο, ε;
