In a video message on Twitter, he ranks this agreement among the 5 most important steps he is taking to solve a problem that some of his predecessors had.
"We have negotiated an agreement with Albania, which has already helped us reduce arrivals from there by 90%."
The December deal stipulates that all Albanians who enter Britain illegally will be returned immediately without undergoing asylum procedures, as Albania is considered a safe country of origin. Illegal immigrants will be punished with up to 5 years in prison under a new law passed in June 2022 for those who violate the British border.
Despite the British Prime Minister's statements, however, the reality on the border between the UK and France appears to be different as Albanian traffickers have developed a new way to make huge profits. More specifically, they are deporting their compatriots from Britain, who are convicted and serving a sentence or are wanted.
