A new collaboration focusing on Greek studies, language and culture is being inaugurated in the United States, with the Malioteio Cultural Center of Boston signing a memorandum of cooperation with the Center for Hellenic Studies at Harvard University.
The agreement creates a stable framework for joint academic and cultural activities, scientific exchanges, interdisciplinary discussions, educational programs and public events. The main goal is to connect academics, students and the general public with the historical and contemporary dimensions of the Greek world.
The Malioteio Cultural Center is located in Brooklyn, Massachusetts, on the premises of the Hellenic College and the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Theological Seminary, two institutions of particular importance to the Greek-American community. Its mission is to promote the Greek language, education, and culture through conferences, lectures, exhibitions, and educational initiatives.
On the other hand, the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies is a research center of the American university for the study of Greek culture in a broad historical and intellectual context. It was founded in Washington in 1960 and also maintains a presence in Greece through the Center for Hellenic Studies in Nafplio.
The first joint initiative has already been scheduled for October 15. The event will focus on contemporary environmental challenges and their connection to broader social and value issues. Alexandra Mitsotakis and theologian Fr. Ioannis Chrysavgis will participate in the discussion, while Nikolaos Prevelakis from the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies will take over the coordination.
The agreement strengthens the presence of Greek studies in the American academic community and creates a new channel between an important institution of the Greek Diaspora and Harvard, with the Greek language, education and culture at the core of the collaboration.

Και τι θα βγάλουν απ αυτό; Σιγά μην νοιάζωνται για τον Ελληνισμό, άλλα συμφέροντα κρύβωνται.
