The Special Court accepted the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) and decided to start the trial against the former mayor of Himara, Giorgos Goros. Goros is accused of abuse of power in two cases of illegal transfer of public property and concealment of assets. At the same time, an investigation remains open for another case of property in Himara, which was acquired by the former appointed mayor, Achilleas Bolanos.

The decision to start the trial was taken by Special Judge Erion Cela, with Goros under investigation since 2023. According to prosecutors, the investigation showed that Goros submitted false documents to the competent authorities, in order to register an agricultural area as public property, which was then transferred to a private company, represented by former MP Artan Gaci. In total, it is estimated that approximately 10,000 square meters of land were illegally transferred in two different areas, which have already been seized by a decision of the General Court.

Along with Goros, in the dock are the former director of the Land Management and Protection Directorate of the Municipality of Himara, the former head of the Cadastral Service, and the former legal advisor of the Cadastral Service, who are also accused of abuse of power.

At the same time, the Special Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into Goros's property, and it was found that he had not declared an 81 sq m apartment in Athens, which was registered in the name of another person.

Goros Requested to be tried under the summary trial procedure, but the court will decide on this at the next Session. the Special Court also rejected his request to change the security measure and the decision for his temporary detention remained.

Goros was arrested in March 2024, following a complaint filed by Fredis Beleris.
