A fatal work accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a construction site in Palasa, Himara, with a worker losing his life while working.
According to initial information, the incident occurred during the operation of heavy machinery, when a worker inside the construction site was fatally injured after being hit by an excavator.
Rescuers and ambulances were immediately called to the scene, however their intervention was ineffective, as the man had already succumbed to his injuries. The body was then transferred to the Vlora hospital for the necessary procedures.
The Himaras police rushed to the scene of the accident and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances under which the incident occurred. As part of the preliminary investigation, the operator of the machine, aged 26, was brought to the police station for a statement.
According to the authorities, the victim was 45 years old and worked at the same construction site. The causes of the accident are being investigated, while it is being examined whether the prescribed safety measures were observed during the execution of the work.
The pre-investigation process is underway, with the competent services collecting statements and technical evidence in order to assign any responsibilities.
