Rama and Meloni will sign a new cooperation agreement in Rome

The Albanian government approved in principle on Wednesday a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Italy, covering ten key areas – from health and defense to migration and innovation. The agreement is expected to be signed in mid-November in Rome by Edi Rama and Giorgia Meloni.

The decision was approved by the Council of Ministers, giving the "green light" for the official establishment of the cooperation. The agreement aims to create a structured framework for the implementation of joint projects and initiatives, deepening the bilateral relations established with the Strategic Partnership Declaration of 2010.

According to government sources in Tirana, cited by the Italian news agency ANSA, the joint meeting of the two governments in November will be the first to take place since 2010, when the aforementioned declaration was signed.

The key areas included in the agreement are as follows:

• Healthcare
• Energy and Environment
• Security And defense Industry
• Immigration Management
• Education, Innovation and Diaspora
• Economic transformation and Smart growth

The upcoming signing of the agreement is considered a step towards institutionally deepening relations between the two countries, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in key areas such as energy security, defense and the management of migration flows.

According to the same source, within the framework of the meeting in Rome, individual cooperation agreements in different sectors are expected to be signed, strengthening the practical dimension of the bilateral strategic framework.
