British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said his government had returned 2,000 Albanian immigrants who were residing in the country illegally.
Sunak was asked by MPs in yesterday's session of the British parliament what his plan was to stop migrants coming to the UK by boat and cited the agreement signed with Prime Minister Edi Rama as one of the measures to prevent illegal immigration.
Sunak stressed that his government "has returned almost 2,000 illegal immigrants."
The British opposition characterizes Sunak's plan and the British Foreign Secretary, Suela Braverman, as a failure, as although the migrant flows by boat have stopped, other routes, such as transportation in commercial trucks and false documents, are galloping.
The latest figures show that since the signing of the agreement between the UK and Albania in December 2022 until the end of May this year, Great Britain has returned 1,788 Albanian citizens to Albania, the BBC reports.
