The beach of Loukovos is one of the most impressive in the municipality of Himara, with emerald waters. However, in recent days, bathers have not been able to enjoy them as the sea has been filled with oil. As locals report, this is not the first time that the same phenomenon has been observed at the beginning of the tourist season. Only speculation can be made about the origin of the oils as long as the authorities do not investigate the issue.
So far, there has been no relevant announcement from the port authority, and the mayor of Himara does not seem to have addressed the issue.
Lukovo is one of the villages of the municipality of Himara with a mild form of economic tourism, which mainly accommodates in rented rooms or in the few small hotels. The beach and the quality of the seawater are the main attraction for these tourists and their pollution is a blow to the area.
