A young Albanian man was sentenced to two years and six months in prison in Great Britain after he was arrested in a pub in Cardiff.
He was arrested on 13 March 2023, during a raid on a property where 206 cannabis plants were found. He had arrived in the UK from Albania in late 2020 to settle debts and other family matters. He met other Albanians who introduced him to cannabis production activities and then settled on the property.
He claimed in court that he needed the job to pay off a £20,000 debt. Six rooms in the house had been converted into "growing rooms", while the kitchen had been converted into a bedroom.
The young man, who had no fixed address, was the only person present at the property at the time of the Raid. police also found a backpack containing six rubber bands for packing cash, as well as mobile phones.
