Outbreaks of bird flu, specifically the H5N1 strain, continue to cause concern in the Durres region. According to the latest reports from veterinary services, active outbreaks of infection have been identified in two large poultry farms.
The affected facilities belong to the companies “Rea's” and “AIBA”, the latter belonging to businessman Armand Duca. The Ministry of Agriculture announced that almost 498,000 birds have been killed so far. They were destroyed by burning, without giving details of where exactly the process took place.
These developments are already having an impact on the market, as the price of eggs has increased significantly. In some places, the price for an egg has even reached 35 lek, which directly affects consumers' ability to purchase basic food products.
The first official report of a case was made on March 3 at the “Rea's” farm in Rrasboul, while the second outbreak was detected on March 13 at the “AIBA” farm in the Xafzotai area.
