On the occasion of Albania's Independence Day, the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, through his letter to the Albanian President of the Republic Ilir Meta, which was broadcast by ATA, expressed his support for Albania, within the framework of the European path of the Western Balkans and after the country fulfills the necessary conditions.

"I want our bilateral relations to continue to strengthen, precisely in the economic sector, in accordance with the French strategy for the Western Balkans that I adopted in 2019."

I take this opportunity to reaffirm France's support for Albania's European perspective.

I welcome the great efforts of the government and the Albanian people. to fulfil the conditions set by the Council regarding the holding of the first intergovernmental conference on the accession negotiations between the European Union and Albania.

"As at the last Brdo Summit, I assure you of France's commitment to holding this first conference," Macron said.
