The clarification that the British Ministry of Culture discusses the Parthenon Sculptures only in the context of official UNESCO meetings was made by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Stuart Andrew, in the shadow of publications about talks between Athens and London on the issue.

"The only discussions the ministry has had on the issue of the Parthenon sculptures Occur within the official meetings of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Promotion of The Return Of cultural Property to uNESCO, with the last one in which government officials participated Being in May 2022," was the characteristic response given by mr. Andrew.

Conservative MP Matthew Offord had submitted a question to the British Minister of State for Culture, asking whether and what conversations the British Ministry of Culture has had in the last two years with the British Museum, with businessman and founder of the Parthenon Project organization Yannis Lefas, and other parties involved.

Specifically, regarding the British Museum, the British Under-Secretary of State for Culture reiterated the argument that the trustees are the "legal owners of the Parthenon Sculptures" and operate independently of the government, recalling that on the one hand, British law prohibits the British Museum from permanently removing objects from its collection and on the other hand, there is no plan to change this specific law.
