Sali Berisha stated that his declaration as persona non grata by Great Britain was based on the slander of the British ambassador to Albania, Alastair King Smith.
«I am here today almost a year after the UK Home Office declared me non grata on trumped-up charges of links to organised crime that undermined the security of the UK. I have decided to sue King Smith and the Home Office for defamation. The decision is based on slander and fabrication, but under UK law, before I could go to court to pursue my defamation claim, I had to lodge a complaint with the board. I have presented in this report all those transparency process documents relating to the non grata declaration".- said Berisha.
