Following the suicide of a 37-year-old Albanian man, who was arrested by British police and was about to return to Albania, and the attempted suicide of a second Albanian, a protest has been organized at Brook House, (an interrogation center) which has received much criticism recently, mainly from Albanian prisoners.
It is recalled that the 37-year-old initially attempted suicide, then was taken to the hospital where he died a few days later, according to British media.
The second Albanian was deported shortly after his suicide attempt, but later returned to the UK following a legal appeal by his lawyer, who sought to have his deportation order quashed.
An Albanian prisoner who participated in the demonstration said that the two men who attempted suicide feared for their safety due to impending plans to return them to Albania.
"One of them told me that he thought it would be better to die in Great Britain than to return to Albania. Our treatment in prison is not good. We are not animals, we are people," he said.
