The Cooperation will be implemented through a joint venture between the albanian KAYO and the well-known italian Fincantieri, one of the largest shipbuilding groups internationally.
The Albanian side will make available the shipyard facilities in Passalimani, near Vlora, which will undergo a complete upgrade. Italy will contribute know-how, design and technical support.
In the initial stage, the new joint venture is expected to build at least seven ships for the Albanian Navy. In the future, the goal is to expand to produce vessels up to 80 meters and 800 tons of displacement, with the possibility of exports.
Fincantieri will play a central role as the main contractor of the program, while construction will be carried out in Albania by the joint venture. The project also includes the training of Albanian engineers and technicians, with the aim of creating local shipbuilding know-how and new jobs.
The implementation of the cooperation is expected to strengthen Albania's naval defense sector, contribute to economic and technological development, and pave the way for further international engagement.
