Maira Myrogianni Is the new secretary general of Hellenes Abroad and Public Diplomacy

The names of the new Secretaries General of the ministries were announced at noon on Monday (29/7). As announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the reshuffle of the Secretaries General aims to accelerate the government's work.

Professor Mr. Yiannis Chrysoulakis is succeeded at the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Ms. Maira Myrogianni, who held the position of Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Extroversion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since July 2023.

Maira Myrogianni is a Lawyer, Expert at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Immigration and Asylum issues. She is a graduate of the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Law School of the University of Lille II, France. She holds a Master's Degree in Social Discrimination, Immigration and Citizenship and is a PhD Candidate at the School of Social and Political Sciences of the University of the Peloponnese. She has scientific expertise in Human Rights and European Law. She has actively served the independent legal profession for many years with particular areas of expertise, Commercial and Public Law. She has extensive and broad experience in public administration, having served for many years as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Shipping, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, as well as a Member of the European Parliament, with an emphasis on issues of International and European Law and International Relations and Cooperation with European Institutions and International Organizations. She speaks English, French and Italian.
