The study “Greece Country Highlights” was recently presented by EY Greece on behalf of the BrainReGain – Hellenism in Action initiative, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aim of the study is to inform Greeks in the diaspora about developments in Greece and repatriation opportunities.
This study, the second edition of the original published two years ago, provides basic information on the economic, regulatory, legislative and investment framework of Greece, as well as on the repatriation opportunities for Greeks abroad.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Kotsiras, stressed the importance of the study for informing Greeks in the diaspora and for promoting the government's strategic plan for Greeks abroad, which will extend from 2024 to 2027. This plan includes actions such as organizing career days abroad, collaborating with Enterprise Greece to promote Greek entrepreneurship, and a memorandum of understanding with Study in Greece for the extroversion of Greek universities.
The study analyzes four main dimensions:
- Upward course of the greek Economy: new jobs, improved labor market conditions, incentives for entrepreneurship, new investments, increase in the average salary.
- Indirect and direct financing tools: Favorable conditions for start-ups with tools such as the NSRF, the greece 2.0 Development Law and the european funding program "Horizon Europe".
- Digital services and improving the quality of life: Positive changes in health and education, digitalization of public services, support for social policies such as the minimum guaranteed income.
- Tax incentives and opportunities: Reduction of social security contributions, digital nomad visa, family offices, alternative taxation of foreign retirees.
The brainReGain Initiative offers a job-finding platform and mentor support. so Far, more than 700 applications have Been submitted and 156 mentor Assignments have been made.
