Foreign Ministers Giorgos Gerapetritis and Niki Kerameus held a teleconference with the heads of Greek diplomatic and consular missions abroad regarding postal voting in the upcoming European elections.
The two ministers thanked the ambassadors and consuls for their contribution to this new electoral process through informing and supporting Greeks abroad in registering on the platform. epistoliki.ypes.gov.gr.
At the same time, they proposed ways to further strengthen the assistance of diplomatic and consular authorities To greek voters abroad.
Furthermore, the momentum of registrations on the postal voting platform was highlighted, in which, in just two months of operation, more than 100,000 voters from 115 different countries around the world have registered.
It was pointed out that the number of registered Greeks abroad has exceeded 30,000, a number that significantly exceeds that of Greeks abroad who exercised their right to vote in the 2023 parliamentary elections.
In 80 out of a total of 115 countries from which those registered on the electronic platform to date come, no polling station had been established in the 2023 parliamentary elections, as the required number provided for by electoral legislation had not been reached.
It is emphasized that Greek residents abroad can exercise their right to vote in the upcoming European elections exclusively through postal voting.
Registrations continue on the electronic platform epistoliki.ypes.gov.gr until Good Monday, April 29, and the process is extremely simple and short. Detailed instructions are posted on the websites of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior. Alternatively, voters abroad can register for postal voting in person at the Consular Authorities (Consulates General, Consulates, Consular Offices of Embassies) of Greece abroad.
