The Border Police services at Tirana Airport identified a new incident of illegal importation of undeclared cash, during regular checks at the crossing point.
According to the relevant announcement, during the secondary inspection, 240,000 euros were found in the possession of a 36-year-old man from Kruja, which he was attempting to import into Albania without declaring, in violation of applicable legislation.
The case material was forwarded to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 36-year-old.
As reported by the State Police, detailed checks at the entrances and exits of Albania with modern detection equipment, risk analysis, thorough interviews and meticulous verification of travel documents are part of the strategy for the prevention and detection of illegalities at the borders. In this specific incident, the 36-year-old was detected transporting a significant amount of money without the legal declaration.
