Two Albanian criminals, Myrteza Hilaj, 50, and Kreshnik Kadena, 37, were sentenced to a total of five years and two months in prison for organizing the smuggling of migrants to Great Britain.
Their conviction, which took place in march 2024, is The culmination of an eight-year investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) into the activities of a major albanian organized crime syndicate.
According to the evidence, Hilaj and Kadena organized at least nine trips with migrants between 2016 and 2017, using trucks and small planes.
During their arrest on July 26, 2017, Hilaj was found in possession of a series of fake identity documents, which were intended for the migrants he helped escape.
