An Albanian physical education teacher has been arrested in England looking after more than 500 cannabis plants with an estimated value of £275,000.

The illegal immigrant tried to quickly escape through an upper-floor window of the house, but was unable to escape the officers. He admitted to producing drugs since June of this year.

Detective Constable Stephen Welch said police executed a drugs warrant at the premises in Popple Street, Hull, a large two-storey industrial building with around 12 rooms.

The defendant later told police he had been trafficked into the country and claimed he had been beaten, although a bruise on his hand did not match the description of the alleged attack.
