The british ambassador To Tirana, alastair King-Smith, Explained The new measures of his country's government to stop the flow of albanian migrants across The english channel. He Said that the return of illegal immigrants will be faster.
"If someone goes illegally, of course they will come back. What this agreement brings is that it will happen faster and it will be clearer that these routes do not give you the opportunity to stay in the UK. Before this, people thought they could stay, now not anymore," the ambassador said.
"I have here the joint communiqué that was issued. It is a really strong message. There are many chapters, but specifically it will allow us to do two things regarding migration. First, let's treat Albania as a safe country and, second, let's create a new joint Task Force, which means a real strengthening of our operational cooperation.
We have problems with our legislation because there is no provision for the designation of countries as safe, as some other countries have. We have a different mechanism and a different legislative process. What this law offers is the reaffirmation of the guarantees that the United Kingdom and Albania have in accordance with international obligations.
This means that the UK will also do more to provide support, particularly when we have victims of human trafficking or other people returning, we will provide more support and assistance, but it is about much more than that. It is about our cooperation operationally.
"Now we are working very intensively to implement it, but not everything will happen immediately. But some things will happen very soon. We already have return flights every week and we will intensify it and we will take these people who have gone illegally and we will make sure that they return to Albania as soon as possible. And if someone goes in the future, they will face the same," the ambassador said on the "Opinion" show.
